of the school year! I just submitted my last 2 papers of the semester and it feels SOOO amazing! Now I can concentrate on other things! Like sunshine and cleaning and leisure reading...and...
Next month I'm going to be a mom!! I've never been this exciting in my life...don't get me wrong I was excited to get married, but I knew who I was marrying and had already met him and had an idea of what life would be like married. But I have no idea who this girl is or her personality or what she looks like or what life will be like after her birth.
I was really hoping to have an uneventful pregnancy but it hasn't been happening. Friday night I started have contractions, they were real and they were consistent. About every ten minutes. I tried to ignore them and did really well until Saturday evening when I counted 5 in 30 minutes (so between 5-7 minutes apart) and I was having some back pain and it was getting harder to breath during them. I really didn't want to go all the way to the hospital like I was supposed to because it's 2 hours round trip. Finally we went and once I was there they hooked me up to the monitors and sure enough I was contracting consistently. Not strong or painful but they were still there. I had to go through all the yucky and uncomfortable exams and tests for preterm labor (which all came back negative, thank God!) and then had a shot to calm the contractions down. It was a horrible feeling and reminded me of when I was in the hospital for my kidney infection. It only worked for about an hour and the contractions started up again. They wanted to keep me overnight to monitor me and I politely declined. Whatever they were going to do about it I figured they could do it then and Jordan and I could go home and get some sleep it was well past midnight (and I had 2 papers to finish) and we finally got home around 2 AM. They still don't know why I'm contracting but it hasn't started labor, yet, and they just put me on some medication to stop the contractions, but it isn't working. So we'll see what happens at my appointment tomorrow morning. Thankfully they didn't send me to hell, I mean bedrest ;)...
We're still hoping Adelaide doesn't come until DDay, June 6th, that would definately make it my longest day. However, I'm not counting on her coming early at all...
And a funny side note: When I was hooked up to the monitors, Adelaide started moving like crazy, for hours. The nurse actually had to come in and turn down the volume on the doppler because she was making so much noise everyone outside of our room could hear her. That's my girl...

Something seems familiar here. Tests for preterm labor, medications to stop contractions, back pain.... hmmm
I'm guessing it runs in the family. Thanks Ashley! jk :D
I like how you're doing well to prepare yourself for the irony of fighting preterm contractions but then having a "late" baby. I saw that happened recently in your family ;) You have such a good attitude about all this and more realistic than most first time moms.
I wish you were having the uneventful pregnancy of your dreams. It's so uneven how some people have every sypmtom in the book and others just sail through. Why can't we balance things like that out a bit? In a perfect world...But again with your great attitude about it all!
I think that Adelaide will keep you plenty busy when she gets here! I am glad that you finished with school for this semester so that you can focus on keeping your legs shut super tight until she is full term :)
you are inspiring. way to keep it up! i'm sure she'll some in her own time!! enjoy the rest of the "peace and quiet" while you can.!
I had to go to the hospital four times 2 for preterm contractions and 2 times for hypertension (the last time I was admitted). But my favorite part about being there was hearing Liv move not only to feel her and see my stomach moving but to hear! It was so so so cool!! I hated it when they would turn the monitors down. That medication is awful I was so annoyed because as soon as it was safe for me to have contractions they stopped completely even the induction medication wouldn't make me have consistent contractions! Don't worry though the month will be over before you know it and your tiny lady will be here!!
